Our website Politiikasta (address is: https://politiikasta.fi) is a prize-winning web journal of the FPSA (Valtiotieteellinen yhdistys ry, Y-tunnus: 0292605-0) with the aim of popularizing social science and political science.

Copyright

Upon delivering a revised version of their original manuscript to the editors the author accepts publication in the web-journal Politiikasta. Politiikasta follows the open publication license for scientific journals (CC BY-NC-ND), which allows for the use and distribution of published materials for non-commercial purpose in such a fashion that the original publication information is included following the usual standards of scientific publication. The author may republish their work published in Politiikasta as long as they include the original publication information.

Any versions of a manuscript preceding publication with editorial comments may not be publicly published. For the sake of search engine optimization for online-published content, we kindly request the author not to openly publish a copy of their work elsewhere for 30 days. After this the author may openly republish the work on a platform of their choice. However, publication of copies should always be linked to the original publication in Politiikasta.

The publisher (Finnish Political Science Association) retains the right to use and distribute the article according to the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License. This license is only void if specifically agreed otherwise before publication. The author will be contacted about any potential republications; the author is to keep their contact information up to date to facilitate contact. Upphovsrätt

Då författaren har fått ett redaktionsgranskat utkast på sin artikel och returnerar ett uppdaterat manus utgör detta ett godkännande av att artikeln publiceras på nättidningen Politiikasta.fi. Publiceringen sker enligt licensen för öppen publicering i vetenskapliga tidskrifter (CC BY-NC-ND) som tillåter att materialet sprids och kan användes för icke-kommersiella ändamål så länge som information om den ursprungliga publiceringen anges och licensens övriga villkor samt gängse vetenskapliga citatregler följs. Författaren kan återpublicera texter som publicerats i nättidningen Politiikasta.fi så länge information om den ursprungliga publiceringen anges.

De versioner av manuskriptet med redigeringsförslag som föregår publiceringen får ej sparas öppet tillgängliga. Med tanke på sökmotoroptimeringen av nättidningens material önskar vi att publicerade artiklar inte parallellpubliceras av författaren inom 30 dagar från den ursprungliga publiceringen. Därefter har författaren rätt att återpublicera artikeln på valfri webbplattform eller annat digitalt arkiv öppet för allmänheten. Vid parallellpublicering skall man länka tillbaks till ursprungsartikeln på Politiikasta.

Your privacy is important to us. As a digital news platform, we request some personal information when you interact with our site. However, we don’t ask for this information unless we truly need it. 2.1. Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

2.2. Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

2.3. Contact forms

If you use contact forms on the site we collect the data entered in the contact form (name, email address, contact number, etc.) so we could communicate with you and provide response assistance. Also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

2.4. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select ”Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

2.5. Embedded content and links to other websites

Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. 2.6. Analytics

We employ third-party services for our Website analytics, we are using a combination of Google analytics (read more about their privacy policy) and MonsterInsights plugin (read more about their privacy policy). Google analytics retain aggregated data for a period of 26 months.

These third parties have access to selected personal information only to perform specific tasks on our behalf or to improve the relevance of information presented to you. We review the privacy policies of all our third-party providers before enlisting their services to ensure their practices align with ours.

2.7. Additional information

We are using reCAPTCHA service provided by Google to improve security of our website (read more about their privacy policy).

Our website is using popular Jetpack plugin to provide additional functionality and improve performance, the plugin is using a combination of methods including cookies (read more about their privacy policy).

3. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

4. Security

We take security seriously, and do what we can within commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information from loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. That said, we advise that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

Our website is using a combination of security methods including SSL certificate and Wordfence.com plugin (read more about their privacy policy).

5. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or store personal information from children (visitors under the age of 13). If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, we encourage you to contact us immediately, and we will do our best to delete the data as quickly as possible.

6. Changes to our Privacy Policy

At our discretion, we may change our privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected here, so we encourage you to visit this page regularly. Your continued use of this site after any changes to this policy will be regarded as acceptance of our practices around privacy and personal information.

7. Organization Transfers

Our website https://politiikasta.fi/ is using Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) and a combination of security practices (strong passwords, malware scan, CAPTCHA, brute force attack prevention, etc.). We are using services of a trusted domestic hosting provider Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunta (Y-tunnus 0524704-5).

9.2. Data breach procedures

In the case of a personal data breach, we shall without undue delay (not later than 72 hours after having become aware of it) notify the personal data breach to the supervisory authority, unless the personal data breach is unlikely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons.

We do not collect personal data from third parties.
